About Button Head Socket Screws
A low domed head with an internal hex drive, to ISO 7380-1. Chosen where a cap screw head would stand too proud, a countersink is not possible, and the rounded profile is either safer to touch or simply looks better.
The head is wider and shallower than a cap screw head, which means a shallower socket and a smaller key. A button head will not take the torque a cap screw of the same thread will, and the socket rounds out sooner. Where the joint is structural, use a cap screw and counterbore it.
Exposed panels, guarding, handles, anywhere someone runs a hand past the fastener. The dome has no sharp edge to catch. It also seats on a wide bearing face, so it holds well in sheet without a washer.
304 stainless throughout. Every listing carries the ISO 273 clearance hole and the 75%-engagement tap drill in both unit systems, plus the hex key size. Full tables on the tap drill chart.
